The Reviews:
There were a mix of positive and negative reviews with this machine and although the positive reviews outweighed the negative reviews it wasn’t by the most overwhelming margin we’ve ever seen. Several reviews did say things like “best machine ever” or “makes perfect bread!” But not all of the reviews were this positive. There were a number of features that people liked about the Cuisinart CBK 200. Being able to remove the paddle before baking so that you don’t end up with a hole in the bottom of your bread was a popular feature. Pre-programmed low carb and gluten free settings were popular as well.
The people that gave this machine negative reviews have a number of different issues with it. The bread pan was one of those issues. The pan is a thin piece of aluminum with a nonstick coating. The thin aluminum does not do a good enough job of dissipating the heat and can cause burning on the bottom of the loaf. People also report that the nonstick coating on the pan gets scratched up and starts peeling off pretty easily. Some people were unhappy with what seems like it would be a great feature which is the convection oven future. People were reporting that it only works well on the light setting and that the other settings burn the bread.
Although the positive reviews did outweigh the negative reviews there were enough negative reviews of this machine to raise some concerns for us. Even some of the positive reviewers said that this is not the kind of machine where you put in the ingredients and then walk away and forget about it. You have to follow the directions carefully and keep an eye on things. There is a learning curve with this machine and that’s not really what you’re looking for in an “automatic” bread machine.

I just returned my Cuisinart Bread Machine to the store where I purchased it after trying to make bread using 3 different recipies. The kneading paddle left flour in the corners and on the sides of the pan each time and the results were not satisfactory. Have had a smaller machine for years and love it but wanted to make larger loaves. Guess I’ll stick with my old bread maker.
I followed the instructions to help the mixing by scraping the sides using a spatula at the start of the mixing, after preheat, and have gotten 4 loaves of gluten free bread for 4 trys. All were better than store bought as far as density loft etc. Medium crust is fine for me, but my wife likes the lighter crust setting. all baked evenly and I removed them at the end of the baking cycle, so I haven’t tested the keep warm feature. One loaf I made on a humid day, it looked too wet but I let it go without adjusting by adding flour to thicken it, it did collapse slightly but was still better than store bought.
I wasted expensive organic flours trying to make loafs five times with this machine. You have to baby sit this machine, be around, listen to it to remove the paddle if you do not want to have a huge hole inside the bread. Paddle does not incorporate the flour properly, you have to keep aiding from the side of the pan. Although I followed the recipes given exactly, one recipe resulted a soup, I hade to keep ading more and more flour.
In short, do not buy this machine especially if it is a refurbished one!
This is my 4th bread machines, yes you have to babysit it. Most bread machine you have to keep a eye on it anyhow. The bad thing it’s hard to keep this clean (outside) the worse I got from my 4 machines, bad design to many little nooks fo dirt to get stuck. Also the clips to hold the pan and the pan is cheap
Best thing it has it’s beeping when to remove the blade, but it would be nice if there was a opt to not beep when you make a bread at night.
Anyhow the machine ijust died the belt under just fall off, I just buy an other but not the same
We used this machine for about a year and a half with reasonably good results, though the comments about uneven baking and the flimsy pan are definitely true. The big problem is that it is already broken. It doesn’t mix or knead properly any more – mixing for a bit then “missing.” You can hear it trying to move the paddle. Eventually it starts up again. Of course, it is past the warranty. We have now had problems with four Cuisinart appliances three of which broke in some way shortly after the warranty was up. I would not only not recommend this appliance but we will not purchase any product from Cuisinart. We gave them more than three strikes. There are enough other options to not risk this experience.
After a little less than a year this unit started making loud banging sounds and bounced around the counter. The mixing bowl no longer would connect securely to the motor drive. Not sure if the clips pressing on the top of the bowl are supposed to hold it in or just to seady it. Bottom line is the mixing paddle no longer turns and the machine is useless.
Don’t waste your $.
We’ve owned bread machines of several brands and know how to use them. My wife decided to treat me and buy the Cuisinart. What a diaster. Neither one of us was able to make decent bread with it, so we sent it back. The second Cuisinart was worse. It went through it’s cycles but didn’t even heat up! We sent it back also. The third one heated but still did not produce decent bread. That one we put into our trash. We weren’t going for a fourth and didn’t want anyone else to have to live with the Cuisinart. We reverted to and bought a Panasonic, which was the first machine that we owned until it was worn out. Honestly, it has never produced a bad loaf of bread. Cuisinart Bread Makers-NO. Panasonic-YES.
Definitely try the Zojirushi BB-CEC20 next as this machine is amazing. We have yet to experience anything even remotely negative with this machine. It bakes perfect loaves every time.
Cheers

Best Christmas gift ever – but this is NOT the best model. Problems with the first two machines so we exchanged thinking we just got a lemon (twice?!). The third machine worked great – for 9 months and then groaned and died mid-cycle. Macy’s took it back – now I’m looking for the Panasonic model a friend has been using for 15 years.
