Panasonic SD-YD250 Automatic Bread Maker Reviews:

In our research into this product we found hundreds upon hundreds of reviews and the Panasonic SD-YD250 automatic bread maker has an overwhelming percentage of glowing reviews with the vast majority being five stars.  People that have used this machine like the fact that it is quite and goes almost unnoticed until a beep alerts you that your bread is ready.  It is sturdy and does not wobble or bounce around on the counter.  A finished loaf slides out of the baking pan easily.  Cleanup is simple and people report getting good consistent results and of course delicious bread. The vast majority of the reviews rave about this product and can not say enough good things about it and many of the reviewers say that it puts all other bread makers to shame.

The small percentage of people that had negative reviews for the Panasonic SD-YD250 automatic bread maker have two main complaints.  The first complaint that some people had was that it didn’t last very long.  Some people reported that the product broke after a few weeks and others reported that it no longer works after the first year.  The biggest complaint however was not the product itself but with the way Panasonic handled their customer service.  People had to wait weeks for replacement parts and even after the product was supposedly repaired they still have problems with it.  Getting the units serviced is not always easy because service centers are not available in all areas and if a machine does need service it may have to be shipped to a service center.

Keep in mind that the number of people reporting these types of results was very small.  Out of the hundreds of reviews we went through only about 10% of them were negative, fewer than 10% were in the middle with a three star rating and the vast majority, over 85% of the reviews that we researched, give the product a four or five star rating.  There were many positive reviews from people that have been making three or four loaves of bread per week for years without any issues.  Whenever there is a product sold to thousands of people there will be some that have a bad experience but the overwhelming majority of people gave this product glowing reviews and our research indicates that the Panasonic SD-YD250 Automatic Bread Maker is a quality product that is worth your consideration.

After 7 months use, still getting great bread every time. If you’ve ever been to Japan, you know the Japanese make good bread, and the Panasonic SD-YD250 is no exception.

What we’ve learned:
* measure flour, water perfectly.
* don’t use old flour (old meaning left open in the fridge for 6 months)
* use bread flour, seal well after use, store in fridge

Here’s our favorite whole wheat bread recipe:
2 cups whole-wheat bread flour
1 cup white bread flour
2 tbsp honey
1 1/2 tbsp SmartBalance (beats butter any day)
1 1/4 cups water
1 tsp salt
1 tsp yeast (yeast receptacle only)
(settings: size small, bake, whole wheat)

This is the third breadmaker I have owned. I have to say I did not have very good luck with the other brands I have owned in the past but after reading the reviews on Amazon, decided on the Panasonic as a replacement. I could not be more pleased with my purchase! I have used it 3x a week for a month now. The bread has turned out perfect every time! I use 1/2 wheat flour with the white. It is like eating cake! It really is that good! One thing I love about this bread maker is that it is so quiet. Also, from other reviews, I thought I was going to have to get a scale and measure all the ingredients but I just use my regular measuring cups and spoons and every loaf has been perfect. I even used Smart Balance margarine today instead of butter and you could not tell the difference! The bread is soft and delicious! The bread comes out of the pan so easily and even the little paddle does not stick into the bread like my last breadmakers.

The loaf looks so perfect – you’d think I spent hours making it on my own. I highly recommend this breadmaker over the more expensive ones. You will not be sorry!

My breadman bread machine quit working after only 2 years so i thought i would look and see what was out there.

I found the Panasonoc sd-yd250 on amazon.I am so glad i bought it.It puts the breadman to shame. This is a top of the line machine. The bread bakes so much better. Always a perfect loaf.It is also much more quite and no vibrating across the counter.I highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a top notch bread machine.

I have owned several bread makers over the years and all have fallen far short of my expectations, until I got this one. Loaf after loaf came out perfect followed by rave reviews from my family and friends. My family goes crazy over my roasted garlic and parmesan cheese bread (this bread is to die for.)

Making good pizza dough by hand is an art form and takes too much time. This machine accomplished the task with ease which allowed me made the best pizza and delectable crust that I had ever eaten.

Some things with the Panasonic took me a little time to get used to. Unlike most other bread makers that began the bread making as soon as the Start button was pressed, the Panasonic has a delayed start allowing all ingredients to come to ambient temperature. The first time I used the Panasonic I kept unplugging the machine and starting over because it wouldn’t start immediately.

Note: When all fails read the directions (LOL.) Then there is the snapping sound around five minutes into the cycle. I thought the machine was stripping its gears until I learned that it was the automatic yeast dispenser being tapped to dispense the yeast (Doh!.)

Where other machines ended up unused and unloved, this machine has earned a very special place in my kitchen. It is now a trusted and indispensable item that I would truly hate to be without. Thinking about a bread maker? This smooth and quite breadmaking marvel will not disappoint. Get one.

I’m looking to buy one, but want to make sure it makes horizontal loafs. Does it?

Here’s my question: How do you get a light crust? No matter what setting I use (light, medium or dark) or the length of baking time, the crust invariably comes out like burnt shoe leather.

My Granddaughter was just diagnosed with celiac disease, which is a gluten free diet so no white, wheat or regular flour. Will your bread maker work using rice flour or other gluten free flours. She would love to be able to make her own bread and have it just baked and warm. Thank you

Panasonic make by far the best breadmakers in my opinion.

I bake bread almost twice a day. Usually one whole grain and one white per day. I used to go through a bread machine in 9 months..year at the most. I’ve had this one for over 6 years and I LOVE it! I wore the bread pan out and have had to replace it, but other than that it’s been my kitchen buddy!

It’s so easy to use my son and husband can operate it. If you are a serious bread maker, don’t even get a Breadman or the ilk. They are for the holiday bread maker. This Panasonic will definitely answer all your needs.

If you have never tried a bread machine, this one is the ultimate. I purchased my first machine in 1993. I asked my husband for one for Christmas. He was very skeptical, but after we got it home, he loved it! We make all our bread out of this machine, and he won’t eat store bought bread anymore. It is very easy to use, we make pizza dough in it as well as yeast rolls, and of course sandwich bread. In 2004, the machine stopped working.

We couldn’t find this model in the stores anywhere, and we tried 3 other types, but my husband had me return all of them. We went on line and found the same model and were thrilled to get it home and start making bread again.

Last year, we decided to purchase another, just to have as a spare! Best money we ever spent!

This bread maker should work fine for gluten free bread. If you are looking for one that has a built in gluten free cycle then I’d recommend this one http://www.bestbreadmachinereviews.com/breadman-tr875-2-pound-breadmaker-stainless-steel-review

Hope that helps..

I have made 2 loaves of whole wheat bread in this machine and they were both VERY dry.
Any reason that should be? Fresh flour, etc. I would like to try another recipe not
specific for a bread machine. Ideas please.
Thanks.

I have had this machine since the late 80s and love it ! If it should ever wear out I will get another one. In the beginning it was used daily , now about 3 times a week. Can’t say enough good things about it. If you buy this you will not be disappointed.

I have had 2 of these machines for well over 20 years. They still work perfectly. I make so many breads I give them as gifts to family, friends and neighbors and donate many. Many of my friends and their mothers have purchased the Panasonic on my recommendation. I wouldn’t buy any other brand. If I could have only one kitchen appliance, my Panasonic bread machine would be the one!

I just bought my panasonic sdys250 it took me a while to understand the the settings until I read the instructions carefully, lol, it makes the best bread ever. My husband ate the entire loaf in one day. He said he doesnt like bread , right like I believe that.
